DFW Disc Dog Club Teams
-
Daniel Suda & Farosh
Team Name: Disc Dewds
Dog Breed: Beauceron
Birthday: 5/31/20
About your Disc Dog Team:
Team Disc Dewds has been competing in UpDog, SkyHoundz, and Distance since December of 2021. We love learning new tricks and freestyle skills!
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
Winning 1st place in UpDog Far-Out at the 2022 Nightmare Before Discmas event in Millington, TN! We played for the first time ever in distance and earned 131 points!
Advice for New Players?
Throw at least 2x as much without your dog than with your dog. Also vary up your training and work on different skills each day with your dog. You only get 60-90 seconds in an official scored run. Don’t let inconsistent throws be the reason your team doesn’t succeed! -
Kimberly Dunbar & Teal
Team Name: Chocolate Rocket
Breed: Labrador Retriever
Birthday: 12/27/17
About your Disc Dog Team:
Teal is a sassy chocolate lab who loves to catch discs!
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
So far it has been Spaced Out! But we're just getting started!
Advice for New Players?
Just sign up and have fun! I was nervous to start but everyone is so welcoming and it's a blast, we just keep trying new things now. -
Chaz King & Oberon Monkey King of the Fairies
Team Name: A Midsummer Night’s Team
Breed: Border Collie
Birthday: 4/20/20
About your Disc Dog Team:
Working with Obee is a dream come true. His EQ and IQ are both off the charts, he’s an ambassador and wants to meet all dogs people.
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
Having a perfect first round at the Skyhoundz World Championship was unbelievable. Carry through to make the podium was extraordinary.
Advice for New Players?
Two discs; one dog. Throw short and reward the close catches before you focus on big throws. Also practice your throws without the dog!!! -
Daniel Suda & Sriracha
Team Name: Spicy and Sporty
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Birthday: 7/4/16
About your Disc Dog Team:
Sriracha (aka Spicy Pup) didn’t start playing disc sports till her turned 6yo and saw his little brother Farosh having fun with the game. The Spicy Pup really loves the agility crossover games that UpDog has!
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
Sriracha is an agility dog at his core. Our favorite experiences together have been playing Frizgility, 7-Up, and FunKey during UpDog shows!
Advice for New Players?
Rollers are just as important as air throws! Sriracha prefers the rollers and has been excelling playing this this strategy! -
Sarah Owen & Rosie
Team Name: Sarah and The Dragon Princess
Breed: Border Collie
Birthday: 1/16/22
About your Disc Dog Team:
Disc is liiiiffffffeee for Rosie! She picked up her first "disc" (a plastic door-knob wall guard) when she was about 9 weeks old and has insisted, ever since, that there's nothing better!
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
Every UpDog competition is my new favorite experience with her. In her last Throw 'n' Go game, she caught every throw (Golden Receiver Achievement), which was super fun. And, in her last 4 Way Play game, she earned her first Double Quad Achievement, which was equally exciting.
Advice for New Players?
Focus on keeping it fun for your dog, and it will be fun for you ;-) -
Shelley Stinson & Macie Bean (aka Bean Dip)
Team Name: The Bean Team
Breed: Blue Heeler (ACD)
Birthday: 2/16/21
About your Disc Dog Team:
We started competing in the DDDC Toss & Fetch league in October of 2022. We made our own practice field soon after starting competition and still have a long way to go and lot of things to learn, but are looking forward to all of it! We enjoy being a part of this group and are excited to see where this takes us. Macie Bean is also a Jeep dog and a water dog. She would love to try out some dock diving, barn hunts and maybe try some agility as well. She is FULL of energy!
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
So far just doing our league throws at The Sound.
Advice for New Players?
Too new to give advice but I think we found the right group to learn from! -
Daniel Suda & Fat Tuesday
Team Name: Tipsy on Bourbon St.
Breed: Beauceron
Birthday: 2/22/22
About your Disc Dog Team:
Fat Tuesday is 10mo Puppy who is following in her brother Farosh’s foosteps! She is fantastic at rollers and has been quickly learning air catches.
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
Her first ever Disc Dog competition was the Nightmare Before Discmas in Millington, TN! She had a fantastic time-warp run and was awarded an “epic moment” by the judges for an amazing catch-drop-catch sequence!
Advice for New Players?
Vary up your training techniques and focus on your dog and what they are telling you. Tuesday has a very different mind than Farosh, and I’ve learned to focus more on short sessions with lots of attention to clear drops and handoffs. -
Debi Berg & Kodi
Team Name: Frisbee Force Kodi
Breed: Retriever Mix
Birthday: 2/16/21
About your Disc Dog Team:
We started having fun playing in disc sports early 2022. We met so many wonderful people that were willing to help and teach us! Kodi has such a high drive for the sport that I really am looking forward to the upcoming years competing with him.
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
Every time we play it makes my day! I just love Kodi's enthusiasm and willingness to learn and do better each and every time!
Advice for New Players?
Just come out and watch/meet the teams who are competing. Join in and learn, the people are awesome and so willing to teach and get you and your dog involved! It is all about having fun with your dog! -
Sarah Owen & Cheaters
Team Name: Sarah and The Cheat Code
Breed: Papillon
Birthday: 8/5/20
About your Disc Dog Team:
Cheaters asked me to tell everyone that he is a little bit better at disc than his border collie sister, Rosie. He knows how to do it and he does it right all the time.
Favorite Disc Dog Experience?
Seeing how much fun he had in his first Frizgility game :)
Advice for New Players?
Every dog can be a great disc dog! Pick one thing your dog loves and does well, and grow your skills together from there. Don't worry if they don't look like the other disc dogs, or if their skills aren't the same as other dogs' skills. Do what's fun for you and your dog.
